    This Standard specifies requirements and gives information on design, installation and testing and gives criteria for the acceptance of fixed landbased watermist systems for specific hazards and provides fire test protocols for a variety of hazard groups. The requirements are not valid for watermist systems on ships, in aircraft, on vehicles and mobile fire appliances or for below ground systems in the mining industry. The requirements can be used as a guidance for other fixed firefighting systems, however, provided that any specific requirements for other firefighting supplies are taken into account. Aspects of watermist associated with explosion protection are beyond the scope of this document. As the fire test scenarios of this document apply to a group of similar applications, by analogy the successful performance of watermist systems also applies to that group, as defined in Annex A. Extrapolation is not covered. The document is not intended to be used as a universal design manual of watermist, as different systems have different characteristics and hence follow different design criteria to satisfy their duty requirements. In the absence of a generalized design method, it is the intent of this document that watermist systems are full-scale fire tested and its system component evaluations are conducted by qualified testing laboratories. The full system acceptance requires the relevant fire test report, the component test report(s) as well as manufacturer's design, installation, operation and maintenance manual for the application. If the gas in the system is a significant factor for extinguishment/suppression, the relevant parts of EN 12094 and EN 15004-1 are applicable. Firefighting systems in accordance with EN 12845 and water spray systems are not covered.

    This European Standard specifies the basic design requirements for the selection of a gas explosion venting protective system. This European Standard, EN 14797 and EN 14460 form a series of three standards which are used together. This European Standard is applicable to: – vent sizing to protect against the internal pressure effects of a gas explosion; - flame and pressure effects outside the enclosure; - recoil forces; - influence of vent ducts; - influence of initial temperature and pressure. This European Standard does not provide design and application rules against effects generated by detonation reactions or runaway exothermic reactions including decomposition in the gas phase. This European Standard is not applicable to: - fire risks arising either from materials processed, used or released by the equipment or from materials that make up equipment and buildings; - design, construction and testing of explosion venting devices, which are used to achieve explosion venting ); - protection against overpressures caused by events such as overfilling, overpressurisation, fire engulfment, overheating etc.

    This standard specifies the technical requirements, verification and test procedure for the longitudinal load moment indicators (LLMI) and longitudinal load moment control (LLMC) systems operating in the forward direction for self propelled variable reach trucks covered by EN 1459. This standard completes the requirements of clause 5.8.4 Longitudinal stability of EN 1459. The LLMI has been designated by the words longitudinal safety warning devices in EN 1459. This standard covers LLMI and LLMC systems for stationary trucks performing loading or placing functions on consolidated, stable and level ground. This standard does not cover the risk due to lateral instability, or instability due to the travelling of the truck. The LLMI and LLMC are not intended for warning of the overturning risk whilst the truck is travelling. NOTE: Acknowledging that, at the time of publication, the requirements included in this standard do not represent the state of the art, a transition period of 24 months is permitted after the date of publication, such that manufacturers can develop their products sufficiently to meet the requirements of this standard.

NOTE – The use of the term installation and pipework is interchangeable. This standard applies to gas installations operating at ambient temperatures between – 20 °C and 40 °C and operating pressures up to and including 60 bar. For operating conditions outside these limitations, reference should additionally be made to EN 13480 for metallic pipework. For industrial gas installations up to and including 0,5 bar and for non industrial (residential and commercial) gas installations up to and including 5 bar in buildings, EN 1775 applies. For gas installations that do not fall within the scope of EN 1775 or other European Standards, this standard applies. In this standard, the term “gas“ refers to combustible gases, which are gaseous at 15 °C and 1 013 mbar absolute atmospheric pressure (normal conditions). It covers total flooding systems primarily related to buildings, plants and other specific applications, utilizing electrically non-conducting gaseous fire extinguishants that do not leave a residue after discharge and for which there are sufficient data currently available to enable validation of performance and safety characteristics by an appropriate independent authority. This document is not applicable to explosion suppression. This document is not intended to indicate approval of the extinguishants listed therein by the appropriate authorities, as other extinguishants may be equally acceptable. CO2 is not included as it is covered by other International Standards. This document is applicable to the extinguishants listed in Table 1. It is applicable to integrated on-gun systems and to systems where a discrete extraction system is attached to the welding torch close to the arc area. The methodology is suitable for use with all continuous wire welding processes, all material types and all welding parameters. The method can be used to evaluate the effects of variables such as extraction flow rate, extract nozzle position, shielding gas flow rate, welding geometry, welding torch angle, fume emission rate etc. on capture efficiency but can also be used, with specific test conditions, to determine capture efficiency.

    This standard specifies the equations to be used in a simulation method for calculating the non steady transfer of heat and moisture through building structures. It also provides a benchmark example intended to be used for validating a simulation method claiming conformity with this standard, together with the allowed tolerances. The equations in this standard take account of the following storage and one-dimensional transport phenomena: - heat storage in dry building materials and absorbed water; - heat transport by moisture-dependent thermal conduction; - latent heat transfer by vapour diffusion; - moisture storage by vapour sorption and capillary forces; - moisture transport by vapour diffusion; - moisture transport by liquid transport (surface diffusion and capillary flow). The equations described in this standard account for the following climatic variables: - internal and external temperature; - internal and external humidity; - solar and longwave radiation; - precipitation (normal and driving rain); - wind speed and direction. The hygrothermal equations described in this standard shall not be applied in cases where: - convection takes place through holes and cracks; - two-dimensional effects play an important part (e.g. rising damp, conditions around thermal bridges, effect of gravitational forces); • hydraulic, osmotic, electrophoretic forces are present; daily mean temperatures in the component exceed 50 °C.

    This European Standard specifies the rotating drum test apparatus and associated test method for the reproducible production of dust from a bulk material under standard conditions, and the measurement of the inhalable, thoracic and respirable fractions of this dust, with reference to existing European Standards, where relevant (see Clause 6). This method is suitable for general bulk material handling processes, including all those processes where the bulk material is dropped, or can be dropped. It differs from the continuous drop method presented in EN 15051 3 in this European Standard, the same bulk material is repeatedly dropped, while in EN 15051 3, the bulk material is dropped only once, but continuously. Furthermore, this European Standard specifies the environmental conditions, the sample handling and analytical procedures, and the method of calculating and presenting the results. A classification scheme for dustiness is specified, to provide a standardised way to express and communicate the results to users of the bulk materials. This European Standard is applicable to powdered, granular or pelletised bulk materials. A standard sample volume is used. This European Standard is not applicable to test the dust released when solid bulk materials are mechanically reduced (e.g. cut, crushed) or to evaluate handling procedures for the bulk materials.
