    This European Standard establishes the general principles for determining the fire resistance of various elements of construction when subjected to standard fire exposure conditions. Alternative and additional procedures to meet special requirements are given in EN 1363-2. The principle that has been embodied within all European Standards relating to fire resistance testing is that where aspects and procedures of testing are common to all specific test methods e.g. the temperature/time curve, then they are specified in this test method. Where a general principle is common to many specific test methods but the details vary according to the element being tested (e.g. the measurement of unexposed face temperature), then the principle is given in this document, but the details are given in the specific test method. Where certain aspects of testing are unique to a particular specific test method (e.g. the air leakage test for fire dampers), then no details are included in this document. The test results obtained might be directly applicable to other similar elements, or variations of the element tested. The extent to which this application is permitted depends upon the field of direct application of the test result. This is restricted by the provision of rules which limit the variation from the tested specimen without further evaluation. The rules for determining the permitted variations are given in each specific test method. Variations outside those permitted by direct application are covered under extended application of test results. This results from an in-depth review of the design and performance of a particular product in test(s) by a recognised authority. Further consideration on direct and extended application is given in Annex A.     This Part of EN 1366 specifies a method of test and criteria for the evaluation (including field of application rules) of the ability of a penetration seal to maintain the fire resistance of a separating element at the position at which it has been penetrated by a service. Penetration seals used to seal gaps around chimneys, air ventilation systems, fire rated ventilation ducts, fire rated service ducts, shafts and smoke extraction ducts are excluded from this standard except for mixed penetration seals. The fire resistance of those services itself cannot be assessed with the methods described in this standard. Supporting constructions are used in this standard to represent separating elements such as walls or floors. These simulate the interaction between the test specimen and the separating element into which the sealing system is to be installed in practice. This European Standard is used in conjunction with EN 1363-1. The purpose of this test described in this standard is to assess: a) the effect of such penetrations on the integrity and insulation performance of the separating element concerned; b) the integrity and insulation performance of the penetration seal; c) the insulation performance of the penetrating service or services, and where necessary, the integrity failure of a service. No information can be implied by the test concerning the influence of the inclusion of such penetrations and sealing systems on the loadbearing capacity of the separating element. It is not the intention of this test to provide quantitative information on the rate of leakage of smoke and/or hot gases or on the transmission or generation of fumes. Such phenomena are only to be noted in describing the general behaviour of test specimens during the test. This test is not intended to supply any information on the ability of the penetration seal to withstand stress caused by movements or displacements of the penetrating services.

    This European Standard specifies a method for determining the fire resistance of horizontal service ducts and vertical service shafts, which pass through walls or floors and enclose pipes and cables. The test examines the behaviour of ducts and shafts exposed to fire from outside and from inside the duct. This European Standard is intended to be read in conjunction with EN 1363-1. This European Standard does not examine the risk of fire spread as a result of thermal conduction along the piping installed in service ducts or shafts, or thermal conduction through the media these pipes carry. It does not cover the risk of damage produced by thermal elongation or shortening of tubes and cables as a result of fire, or damaged pipe suspensions. This European Standard does not give guidance on how to test one, two or three sided service ducts or shafts. NOTE – Guidance on testing service ducts and shafts of less than four sides will be covered in the extended field of application rules being developed by CEN/TC 127. This test is unsuitable for evaluating service ducts with internal barriers at walls and floors. Whilst the walls of service ducts or shafts tested to this method may provide specified levels of integrity or insulation, testing to this European Standard does not replace the testing of the functional endurance of small electrical cables which is covered in EN 50200. Fire resistance testing of ducts for air distribution systems is covered in EN 1366-1.

It specifies standards for dimensions, materials and technical conditions of delivery for bolts, stud bolts and nuts. The bolting of within standard is selected for the combined use with flanges from the EN 1092 series and EN 1759 series but not for general purpose. The selection of the materials is based on commonly used materials. It covers all pressure and temperature ranges of the general service of standard flanges. For special applications other materials may be selected by the user. In some cases, similar alloys have been included, which differ only by carbon contents (e.g. 0,25 % or 0,42 %), because of the different requirements of the national standards. When the new European Standards are produced, it is expected that the opportunity to rationalise these many grades, will result in a reduction of standardised grades.

    This European Standard is applicable to the selection of bolting for equipment subject to the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC. It specifies standards and additional requirements for dimensions, materials and technical conditions of delivery for bolting. The bolting selection covered by this European Standard is regarded to be used for combination with flanges according to the series EN 1092 (PN designated flanges) and the series EN 1759 (Class designated flanges). The selection is based on commonly used materials, bolts and nuts. It covers temperature ranges of the general service of standard flanges (based on PN or Class). When selecting bolting according to this European Standard it is essential to take into account other parameters such as type of fluids, corrosion hazards and relaxation at elevated temperatures. The purpose of this European Standard is to provide a selection of most commonly used bolting types and bolting material combinations as well a tool for easy selection of suitable bolting for equipment. It is not the intention to specify all possible applications but to give guidance on the most commonly applications. According to this, e.g. application limits for material in the creep range are not explicitly covered in this European Standard but some bolting materials listed (see Table 3, footnote h) are suitable to be used in this temperature range. Wherever the starting material standard provides mechanical properties for this temperature range respective reference is made in Table 3.

This standard is applicable to attacks by hand guns, rifles and shotguns on windows, doors, shutters and blinds complete with their frames and infills, for use in both internal and external locations in buildings. Shutters and Blinds must be tested separately and not in conjunction with a window or door, in order to achieve classification in terms of bullet resistance. This standard gives no information on the behavior of the test item when subjected to other types of stresses. It gives no information on the bullet resistance of the junction between the frame and the wall or other surrounding structure.

    This European Standard defines a test procedure to permit classification of the bullet resistance of windows, doors, shutters and blinds (complete with their infills). This European Standard concerns only behavior in respect of the frame of the windows, doors, shutters or blind, their infills and the junctions between the infills and frames. If the windows and doors are subjected to specific conditions of climate, specific conditions of test may be required. It does not apply to the testing of glass infills. For the testing of glass infills refer to prEN 1063. This European Standard gives no information on the behavior of the frame subjected to other types of stresses. It gives no information on the bullet resistance of the junction between the frame and the wall or other surrounding structure. Shutters and Blinds must be tested separately and not in conjunction with a window or door, in order to achieve classification in terms of bullet resistance.
