Ergonomics of human-system interaction — Part 125: Guidance on visual presentation of Information

    Oprindelse:
    CEN
    Status
    Forslag om nyt arbejdsemne vedtaget
    Beskrivelse
ISO 9241-125 provides requirements and recommendations for the visual presentation of information and specific properties such as the syntactic or semantic aspects of information, e.g. coding techniques. These requirements and recommendations can be utilised throughout the design process (e.g., as specification and guidance for designers during design or as a basis for heuristic evaluation). This International Standard applies to all visual user interfaces controlled by software. Requirements or recommendations that do not apply to all types of visual interfaces clearly indicate any limitations to their applicability. Presentation of information depends upon the visual design approach, the task, the user, the environment and the single or multiple technologies that might be used for presenting the information. Consequently, ISO 9241-125 cannot be applied without knowledge of the context of use, and it is not intended to be used as a prescriptive set of rules to be applied in its entirety. Rather, it assumes that the designer has proper information available concerning task and user requirements and understands the use of available technology. Some of the requirements and recommendations in this International Standard are based on Latin-based language usage and might not apply, or might need to be modified, for use with a different language. In applying those requirements and recommendations that assume a specific language base (e.g., alphabetic ordering of coding information, items in a list), it is important that care is taken to follow the intent of the standard when translation is required to a different language. ISO 9241-125 does not address auditory or tactile/ haptic presentation of information or modality shifting in order to present visual information in other modalities.

Ergonomics of human-computer interaction - Part 220: Processes for enabling, executing and assessing human-centred design within organizations

    Oprindelse:
    CEN
    Status
    Forslag om nyt arbejdsemne vedtaget
    Beskrivelse
This International Standard specifies the processes by which human-centred design is achieved throughout the lifecycle of interactive systems (including products and services). It is also applicable to some noninteractive products, systems or environments intended for human use. These human-centred process (HCP) descriptions are for use in the specification, assessment and improvement of HCPs used in system development and operation. They can also provide the basis for professional development and certification. The processes support achievement of the overall objective of human-centred design when using a system: usability, accessibility, freedom from risk related to or arising from human use, and user experience (referred to as value-in-use). NOTE 1 Human-centred design aims to make interactive systems more usable with potential benefits including improved productivity, enhanced user well-being, avoidance of stress, increased accessibility and reduced risk of harm. Ergonomics shares these objectives but is used beyond the domain of design, for example in the forensic analysis of the causes of accidents and in the generation of data and methods of measurement. The description of processes in this International Standard provides a basis for those planning and carrying out human-centred design activities within an organization, and in the execution of projects. In addition it can provide the basis for those who wish to improve the performance of human-centred design activities within their own organization or in an organization supplying systems or services. The guidance in this International Standard is not applicable to an organizational re-design, although its application might identify the necessity for re-design. NOTE 2 ISO 9241-2 and ISO TS 18152 address organizational design in more detail. This International Standard does not prescribe specific methods. The processes described in ISO 9241-220, can be implemented using a range of methods (such as tho ...

    Beskrivelse
This part of ISO 9241 provides ergonomic requirements for stereoscopic displays using glasses. These requirements are stated as performance specifications, aimed at ensuring effective and comfortable viewing conditions for users, and at reducing visual fatigue caused by stereoscopic images on stereoscopic display using glasses. Test methods and metrology, yielding conformance measurements and criteria, are provided for design evaluation. This part of ISO 9241 is applicable to temporally or spatially interlaced type. These are implemented by flatpanel displays, projection displays, etc. Stereoscopic displays using glasses can be applied to many contexts of use. However, this part focuses on business and home leisure applications (i.e., observing moving images, games, and so on). Only dark environments are specified in the current version of this part.

    Beskrivelse
This International Standard specifies a method for the determination of gross alpha activity in non-saline waters for alpha-emitting radionuclides which are not volatile at 350 °C. It is possible to determine supported volatile radionuclides measured to an extent determined by half-life, matrix retention (of the volatile species) and the duration of measurement (counting time). The method is applicable to raw and potable waters. The range of application depends on the amount of suspended matter in the water and on the performance characteristics (background count rate and counting efficiency) of the counter.

    Beskrivelse
1.1 This European Standard specifies rules for designating steels by means of symbolic letters and numbers to express application and principal characteristics, e.g. mechanical, physical, chemical, so as to provide an abbreviated identification of steels. NOTE In the English language the designations covered by this European Standard are known as “steel names”; in the French language as “designation symbolique”; in the German language as “Kurznamen”. 1.2 This European Standard applies to steels specified in European Standards (EN), Technical Specifications (TS), Technical Reports (TR) and CEN member's national standards. 1.3 These rules may be applied to non-standardized steels. 1.4 A system of numerical designation of steels known as steel numbers is specified in EN 10027-2.
