This document is applicable for normal ambient temperature conditions (- 20 °C to + 50 °C). Where temperatures are outside this range, additional requirements need to be taken into account.

    This European Standard specifies the technical requirements to minimize the hazards listed in Clause 4 which can arise during the commissioning, the operation and the maintenance of deicers and equipment designed exclusively for deicing and washing of aircraft with deicing/antiicing/washing liquids when used as intended, including misuse reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer, when carried out in accordance with the specifications given by the manufacturer or his authorized representative. It also takes into account some requirements recognized as essential by authorities, aircraft and ground support equipment (GSE) manufacturers as well as airlines and handling agencies. NOTE – Safety of aircraft in connection with deicing/antiicing operations is not dealt with in this European Standard. Any, even minor, aircraft deicing or antiicing operation directly affects flight safety on take-off. Prevention of aeronautical accidents resulting from in-flight icing principally concerns the fluids and methods used, but it may in certain cases also concern deicing or antiicing equipment design or operation. These aeronautical aspects are not covered in this European Standard (see also Joint Aviation authorities (JAA), Joint Aviation Regulations (JAR) JAR-OPS subpart D 1.345 and any associated material). This standard applies to: a) self-propelled deicers with fixed platform or hinged boom; b) towable deicers with fixed platform or hinged boom; c) stationary deicing/antiicing equipment (e.g. fixed boom, gantry or tower cranes equipped with aircraft deicing/antiicing fluid systems). This standard does not apply to: d) fixed installations, such as separate storage tanks or heating and filling stations, which are not an integrated part of the stationary deicing equipment; e) hydraulic control systems; f) pneumatic systems; g) flow generating systems as such. This standard does not establish requirements for hazards caused by noise and vibration. NOTE – EN 1915-3 and EN 1915-4 provide the general GSE noise and vibration requirements. This standard is not dealing with hazards in respect to a standard automotive chassis and the traffic on the apron. This part of EN 12312 is not applicable to deicers and deicing/antiicing equipment which are manufactured before the date of publication of this standard by CEN. This part of EN 12312 when used in conjunction with EN 1915-1, EN 1915-2, EN 1915-3 and EN 1915-4 provides the requirements for deicers and deicing/antiicing equipment.

    This Technical Specification describes the testing of the freeze-thaw scaling resistance of concrete both with water and with sodium chloride solution. It can be used either to compare new constituents or new concrete compositions against a constituent or a concrete composition that is known to give adequate performance in the local environment or to assess the test results against some absolute numerical values based on local experiences. Extrapolation of test results to assess different concretes i.e. new constituents or new concrete compositions, requires an expert evaluation. NOTE In some cases the test methods may not be suitable for testing special concretes e.g. high strength concrete or permeable concrete. In these cases the result is to be treated with caution. These tests may not identify aggregates that are subject to occasional ‘pop-outs’. There is no established correlation between the results obtained by the three test methods. All tests will clearly identify poor and good behaviour, but they differ in their assessment of marginal behaviour There are two types of concrete deterioration when a freeze-thaw attack occurs, scaling and internal structural damage. Test methods on internal structural damage are described in a CEN Technical Report CEN/TR 15177 "Testing the freeze-thaw resistance of concrete - Internal structural damage".

    This European Standard applies to transportable masonry and stone cutting-off machines stationary during work, principally used on job site building construction for cutting-off stones, other mineral construction materials and composite materials having at least one supporting surface. The power for the tool rotation is supplied by electrical or internal combustion prime motor. This European Standard deals with all significant hazards pertinent to masonry and stone cutting-off machines for job site (see clause 4), when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer. This European Standard specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards. These machines are designed for use with rotating diamond cutting-off wheels with a continuous rim and/or segmented rim. This European Standard does not apply to: - metal cutting-off machines; - wood and timber sawing machines; - machines with a feed or descent mechanism other than manual, or with a pedal; - mobile machines on a trolley travelling on the ground; - hand-held portable grinding and cutting-off machines; - hand-held portable grinding and cutting-off machines mounted on a support to be used in a fixed position. This European Standard does not cover the operation of transportable masonry and stone cutting-off machines in potential explosive atmospheres. This European Standard covers electrical hazards making reference to relevant European Standards (see 5.2). Those hazards that are relevant for all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and other equipment of machinery and that are dealt with in standards for common use are not covered by this European Standard. Reference to pertinent standards of this kind is made where such standards are applicable and so far necessary.     This European Standard specifies a screening test method for determining the resistance of geotextiles and geotextile-related products to hydrolysis by exposing test specimens to water at elevated temperatures, followed by an evaluation of the changes in properties resulting from such exposure. It is intended as a means of establishing a minimum acceptable level of durability. The test is applicable to any geotextile and geotextile-related product susceptible to hydrolysis, in particular polyester and polyamide based materials, and in addition to the yarns from which these geotextiles are made. Reinforcing materials shall be tested without the coating and manufacturers shall ensure that the degradation of the coating will not attack or have any negative influence on the degradation of the yarns. This method is not intended for determining the resistance of geotextiles to hydrolysis under highly acid or alkaline conditions. NOTE: Performance tests to predict long-term lifetime or to compare products of different polymers or of similar polymers with differing structures can be based on the same method but with a wider range of temperatures and durations.

    This European Standard specifies the tabulation method for determining the wall thickness of valve bodies, bonnets and covers with essentially circular cross-section made in forged, cast or fabricated steel. For valve shells with oval, rectangular or non-circular shapes, see 8.6. The range of PN or Class designations for which thicknesses are tabulated is: PN 2,5, PN 6, PN 10, PN 16, PN 25, PN 40, PN 63, PN 100, PN 160, PN 250, PN 320, PN 400, Class 150, Class 300,Class 600, Class 900, Class 1 500, Class 2 500, Class 4 500. Pressure/temperature ratings are specified for each material group for the above PN Standard Class and Special Class designations. The non-destructive examination procedures and acceptance levels that need to be applied to the valve shell components in order for the valve to be used at Special Class pressure/temperature ratings are defined. Details are also given for the alternative rules for small bore valves of DN 65 and smaller designated as Limited Class. This standard does not apply to threaded end valves: – DN 80 or larger; – or which have pressure ratings greater than Class 2 500; – or which operate at temperatures greater than 540 °C. Socket welding end valves DN 80 or larger are outside the scope of this standard.
