    This European Standard specifies requirements for limiters (or limiting devices) which are incorporated into safety systems for shell boilers as defined in EN 12953-1. A limiter (or limiting device) can be either: – a safety accessory as defined in the Pressure Equipment Directive, Article 1, clause 2.1.3, and needs to include the safety logic and final actuator, or – one element of a safety system, for example, a self-monitoring water level sensor used as part of a safety accessory as defined in the Pressure Equipment Directive, Article 1, clause 2.1.3. The overall boiler protection function needs to be provided in association with additional safety logic (where appropriate) and a final actuator. The design requirements and examination of functional capability for the limiters are covered in this European Standard. For an explanation of the extent of the limiter (or limiting device) see Figure A.1.

This test method is primarily intended as a performance test to be used with site specific soils but may also be used as an index test with standard sand. Test data obtained for geogrids tested with a rigid support are not necessarily realistic as the results depend on the friction support.

    This standard specifies safety requirements and their verification for the design and construction of power take-off (PTO) drive shafts and their guards linking self-propelled machinery (or tractor) to the first fixed bearing of recipient machinery, by describing methods for the elimination or reduction of risks which need specific requirements. This standard concerns only the PTO drive shafts and those guards which are mechanically linked to the PTO drive shaft by at least two bearings. In addition, it specifies the type of information on safe working practices to be provided by the manufacturer. This standard does not deal with: - the guards totally covering, but not mechanically linked to the PTO drive shaft. As these devices are not at present widely established on the market, they should be dealt with in a future revision of this standard; - the mechanical characteristics of PTO drive shafts, overrun devices and torque limiters; - general hazards.

    This European Standard specifies performance requirements for fluid heating solar collectors with respect to mechanical resistance to climatic loads, reaction to fire and external fire performance, weather tightness, release of dangerous substances, electrical safety, operating pressure, sound level, thermal output and collector efficiency. Fluids included are anti-freeze fluids, thermo oil, air and water which are not intended for human consumption. The intended use of the solar collector is to heat up the working fluid. This European Standard also includes provisions for assessment and verification of constancy of performance to these requirements. This European Standard covers only the solar collector consisting of its components: e.g. absorber, frame, insulation and glazing; It does not cover the fluid. It is applicable to glazed and unglazed solar collectors, flat plate solar collectors, evacuated tubular solar collectors, concentrating solar collectors, tracking solar collectors and thermal-electrical hybrid solar collectors (so called PVT collectors). It is not applicable to those solar collectors, in which the thermal storage unit is an integral part of the solar collector to such an extent, that the heat production process cannot be separated from the storage process for the purpose of making measurements of these two processes.

    This European Standard specifies performance test methods for control equipment. Furthermore, this document contains requirements on accuracy, durability and reliability of control equipment. The tests described in this document are limited to electrically activated components delivered with or for the system by the final supplier. For the purposes of this document controller and control equipment for solar heating systems and auxiliary heaters, if part of the system, are restricted to the following: a) Controllers as: 1) system clocks, timers and counters; 2) differential thermostats; 3) multi-function controllers. b) Sensors as: 1) temperature sensors; 2) irradiance sensors (for short wave radiation); 3) pressure sensors; 4) level sensors; 5) flow meters; 6) heat meters. c) Actuators as: 1) pumps; 2) solenoid and motor valves; 3) relays. d) Combinations of controllers, sensors and actuators listed above. An additional objective of the procedures described in this document is to verify control algorithms and, together with the accuracy of sensors, to determine control parameters. In addition to verifying the functioning of a controller, its equipment and actuators, the determined parameters may be used for numerical system simulations. Typically, electrical anodes are not part of the control equipment and are not controlled by the control equipment. However, because they are electrical appliances, electrical anodes are included in this document. This document is valid for control equipment of solar heating systems for the purpose of hot water preparation and/or space heating. If the solar system is connected to or part of a conventional heating system, the validity is extended to the entire system.     This European Standard is applicable to the design, construction, installation of safety devices, information for use, maintenance and testing of mobile cranes as defined in ISO 4306 2. Examples of mobile crane types are given in Annex A. This European Standard does not apply to: - loader cranes (see EN 12999) - off-shore cranes (see EN 13852 1) - floating cranes (see EN 13852 2) - variable reach truck (see EN 1459) NOTE 1 – Variable Reach Trucks are commonly known as telehandlers. - mobile self-erecting tower cranes - earth-moving machinery used for object handling (see EN 474-series). This standard does not cover hazards related to the lifting of persons. NOTE 2 – The use of mobile cranes for the lifting of persons is subject to specific national regulations. Mobile cranes covered by this European Standard are designed for a limited number of stress cycles and particular properties of motions, e.g. smooth application of the driving forces and loading conditions according to ISO 4301 2:1985, group A1. For a duty cycle such as grab, magnet or similar work, additional provisions are required which are outside the scope of this European Standard.     This European Standard is to be used together with EN 13001-1 and EN 13001-2 and as such they specify general conditions, requirements and methods to prevent mechanical hazards of cranes by design and theoretical verification. NOTE Specific requirements for particular types of crane are given in the appropriate European Standard for the particular crane type. This European Standard covers machinery that is not dealt with by other EN 13001 standards. The following is a list of significant hazardous situations and hazardous events that could result in risks to persons during intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse. Clauses 4 to 7 of this standard are necessary to reduce or eliminate risks associated with the following hazards: a) exceeding the limits of strength (yield, ultimate, fatigue); b) exceeding temperature limits of material or components; c) elastic instability of the crane or its parts (buckling, bulging). This European Standard is not applicable to cranes which are manufactured before the date of its publication as EN and serves as reference base for the European Standards for particular crane types (see Annex I).     This European Standard specifies a method for the determination of the total pressure, exerted in vacuo, by volatile, low viscosity petroleum products, components, and feedstocks containing air, including oxygenated fuels up to 3,7%mass of oxygen and automotive ethanol (E85) fuel. A dry vapour pressure equivalent (DVPE) can be calculated from the air containing vapour pressure (ASVP) measurement. The conditions used in the test described in this standard are a vapour-to-liquid ratio of 4:1, a sample size of 700 ml to 800 ml, and a test temperature of 37,8 °C. This method described is suitable for testing air-saturated samples that exert an air saturated vapour pressure of between 9,0 kPa and 150,0 kPa at 37,8 °C.

    This European Standard specifies requirements and testing for ratings and performance of air handling units as a whole. It also specifies requirements, recommendations, classification, and testing of specific components and sections of air handling units. For many components and sections it refers to component standards, but it also specifies restrictions or applications of standards developed for stand alone components. This standard is applicable both to standardised designs, which may be in a range of sizes having common construction concepts, and also to custom-design units. It also applies both to air handling units, which are completely prefabricated, and to units which are built up on site. Generally the units within the scope of this standard include at least a fan, a heat exchanger and an air filter. This standard is not applicable to the following: a) air conditioning units serving a limited area in a building, such as fan coil units; b) units for residential buildings; c) units producing ventilation air mainly for a manufacturing process.
