    This European Standard is to be used together with EN 13001-1 and EN 13001-2 and as such they specify general conditions, requirements and methods to prevent mechanical hazards of cranes by design and theoretical verification. NOTE Specific requirements for particular types of crane are given in the appropriate European Standard for the particular crane type. This European Standard covers machinery that is not dealt with by other EN 13001 standards. The following is a list of significant hazardous situations and hazardous events that could result in risks to persons during intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse. Clauses 4 to 7 of this standard are necessary to reduce or eliminate risks associated with the following hazards: a) exceeding the limits of strength (yield, ultimate, fatigue); b) exceeding temperature limits of material or components; c) elastic instability of the crane or its parts (buckling, bulging). This European Standard is not applicable to cranes which are manufactured before the date of its publication as EN and serves as reference base for the European Standards for particular crane types (see Annex I). NOTE prEN/ 13001-3-4 deals only with limit state method in accordance with EN 13001-1.

    Calculation methods and limit states for theoretical verification of the mechanical strength of hydraulic cylinders used in cranes. Outline of standard The standard will have a layout that is quite similar to EN 13001-3-1. It shall specify the calculation methods and provide limit states that are necessary to reduce or eliminate risks associated with the following hazards: 1. exceeding the limits of strength (yield, ultimate, fatigue); 2. elastic instability of the crane or its parts (buckling). In particular, the following phenomena will be addressed: • Hoop stress • Shell bending stress at bottom weld • Cylinder head flange weld • Notch stress at oil connectors • Stress at cylinder head thread • Stress at piston thread • Piston weld • Locking thread • Bolted cylinder head screws • Buckling of entire cylinder • Internal buckling of rod • Compressed member with end moments or lateral displacement (2nd order theory) • Mechanical interfaces

    This European Standard specifies a method for the determination of the total pressure, exerted in vacuo, by volatile, low viscosity petroleum products, components, and feedstocks containing air, including oxygenated fuels up to 3,7%mass of oxygen and automotive ethanol (E85) fuel. A dry vapour pressure equivalent (DVPE) can be calculated from the air containing vapour pressure (ASVP) measurement. The conditions used in the test described in this standard are a vapour-to-liquid ratio of 4:1, a sample size of 700 ml to 800 ml, and a test temperature of 37,8 °C. This method described is suitable for testing air-saturated samples that exert an air saturated vapour pressure of between 9,0 kPa and 150,0 kPa at 37,8 °C.

It also specifies requirements, recommendations, classification, and testing of specific components and sections of air handling units. For many components and sections it refers to component standards, but it also specifies restrictions or applications of standards developed for stand alone components. This standard is applicable both to standardised designs, which may be in a range of sizes having common construction concepts, and also to custom-design units. It also applies both to air handling units, which are completely prefabricated, and to units which are built up on site. Generally the units within the scope of this standard include at least a fan, a heat exchanger and an air filter. This standard is not applicable to the following: a) air conditioning units serving a limited area in a building, such as fan coil units; b) units for residential buildings; c) units producing ventilation air mainly for a manufacturing process.

    This European Standard specifies the properties of Lightweight Aggregates (LWA) and fillers derived thereof obtained by processing natural or manufactured materials and mixtures of these aggregates for concrete, mortar and grout, bituminous mixtures and surface treatments and for unbound and hydraulically bound applications in construction works. This European Standard covers LWA of mineral origin having particle densities not exceeding 2000 kg/m3 (2,000 Mg/m3) or loose bulk densities not exceeding 1200 kg/m3 (1,200 Mg/m3) including: a) natural LWA; b) LWA manufactured from natural materials; c) LWA manufactured from by-products of industrial processes or from recycled source materials; d) LWA as by-products of industrial processes. A list of source materials and specific materials, which are within the scope of this standard, is given in Annex A (normative). NOTE – Recycled aggregates from construction and demolition waste and Municipal Solid Waste Incinerator Bottom Ash (MIBA) are covered by standards EN 12620, EN 13043, EN 13139 and EN 13242. Some LWA for specific applications are covered in separate European product standards (Annex B, normative). The requirements specified in this standard may not be equally relevant to all types of LWA. For particular applications, the requirements and tolerances can be adapted for the end use.

The soot fire resistant chimney covers a combination of compatible chimney components, obtained or specified from one manufacturing source with product responsibility for the whole chimney.
