    This document covers pump units (as defined in the Clause "Scope" of Part 1 of this Standard) equipped with water pumps of the types – End-suction pumps with own bearings (ESOB), end suction pumps close coupled to the motor 33 (ESCC) and end suction in-line pumps (ESCCi) – with a design pressure up to 16 bar (incl. EN 733 or equivalent) – and with a specific speed ns between 6 and 80 1/min, a minimum rated flow rate of 6 m3/h (1,667·10-3 m3/s), a maximum shaft power of 150 kW, a maximum head of 90 m at nominal speed of 1450 1/min and a maximum head of 140 m at nominal speed of 2900 1/min, – vertical multistage pumps (MS-V) – with a design pressure up to 25 bar – and with a nominal speed of 2900 1/min and a maximum flow rate of 100 m3/h (27,78·10-3 m3/s), – submersible multistage pumps (MSS) – with a nominal outer diameter of 4″ (10,16 cm) or 6″ (15,24 cm) – designed to be operated in a borehole at nominal speed of 2900 1/min at operating temperatures within a range of 0 °C and 90 °C. Not included in the scope are – pump unit(s)equipped with a single pump and optional components placed on the market 48 and/or put into service as one product intended to control pressure in open loops for clean wa-49 ter and which are covered by the scope of Part 3 of this Standard, – pump units equipped with – water pumps designed specifically for pumping clean water at temperatures below -10 °C or above 120 °C, – water pumps designed only for fire-fighting applications, – displacement water pumps, – self-priming water pumps. NOTE The pump types and sizes within the scope are typically mass produced pumps. Larger pumps at the upper end of the ranges for design flow rate and design shaft power of the scope might be produced in smaller numbers.

    This document covers pump units consisting of – one or a number of rotodynamic water pump(s), including where integrated in other products, – the/each pump driven by a motor system which consist(s) of an electric motor and – either a terminal box which only enables to operate the pump unit at constant motor stator frequency and thereby (nearly) constant rotational speed - or a CDM (Complete Drive Module) which enables to operate the pump unit at variable rotational speed depending on a varying demand of flow rate and/or discharge or differential pressure. NOTE 1: A motor system which consists of an electric motor and a CDM is also called PDS (Power Drive System). NOTE 2: A CDM is also often called VSD (Variable Speed Drive). Pump units as defined above are treated as Extended Products in respect to their energy efficiency. Pump units which consist of only one pump coupled with a motor system are called single pump units in this Standard. Pump units which consist of at least two pumps coupled with their own motor systems which can be operated independently of each other are called multiple pump units in this Standard.
