This International Standard provides practical guidance to suppliers on decisions that 208
should be made about the safety of consumer products and the type of documentation 209
required to verify that the assessment and management of risks was carried out and to 210
assist organizations in meeting applicable regulatory requirements. More specifically, it 211
describes how to: 212
identify, assess, reduce or eliminate hazards; 213
manage risks by reducing them to a tolerable level; and 214
provide consumers with hazard warnings or instructions essential to the safe use 215
or disposal of consumer products. 216
217
This Standard was drafted for consumer products but may be useful for decisions 218
concerning safety in other product sectors.
